Crater Lake

Last Sunday my 3 youngest daughters and I headed up to Sunriver, OR, near Bend for a family reunion (more pics on that area later). We took a slight detour and stopped by Crater Lake to take in the view of what I think is the most beautiful lake in the U.S. The air was crystal clear, unlike the smoky skies of California.

The road around the east rim of Crater Lake had only recently opened as the snow had finally melted down enough. The cloudy streaks in the blue, blue waters is caused by the large amounts of pollen falling into the water. The first photo below, taken in N. California on the way up, is of Mt. Shasta, and the haziness of the sky is very evident in comparison to the clear blue sky above Crater Lake in Oregon. In the last photo my daughters decided to check out the snow with their bare feet. That one I had to take FAST!
