Busy Saturday

Saturday was busy. I drove to Sacramento for an 11 a.m. meeting with a bride-to-be, Laura, and her mother, Teri. They interviewed me and looked at some of my photos to see if they wanted me to photograph their wedding in June at the Vizcaya, a beautiful venue in Sacramento. I had done one there last year and I think that made the difference as Teri emailed me today that I had the job. Yaay!
I met up with Kayla for lunch as she had arranged for me to take photos of April Kayla’s baptism at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Catholic Church downtown. April Kayla is the daughter of her friend and co-worker Oralia, and her husband, Tony. It was a beautiful ceremony in Spanish and several babies were baptised. Here are some of the photos below of mom, dad, baby, and godparents. Afterwards Kayla went to their house for a big party with live Mexican music and great food. I took off to see how my friends were doing at the Sacramento Winter Open table tennis tournament.

Normally I would be playing in the tournament, but I have a sore ankle and knew it wouldn’t carry me through a full day of playing. A few matches, yes … the whole day, no. So, I settled for taking a few photos, and telling my friends how lucky they were that I wasn’t playing. Steven Wang, a newcomer from China, won the open category defeating Khoa Nguyen, a former U.S. Olympian. After the open I coaxed some friends into playing for about an hour before heading home. A long, good day.
