American Profile Magazine in Nevada County

American Profile Magazine was in Nevada County today to photograph Nevada County residents. The photograph was part of an article to be published this summer or possibly in Jan 2011, which features communities that are pioneering fitness and weight-loss programs. Nevada County was selected for inclusion in the article because of its pioneering role in creating the Nevada County Meltdown, organized by fitness advocate Carole Carson in 2006. Carole and several of her hardworking friends also organized todays diverse gathering of community residents for the photo then afterward a march to Conden Park for a free Community Fitness Fair. I shot many of the photos in Caroles book “From Fat to Fit” published in 2007 about the meltdown, and she invited me, as well as several videographers, to shoot alongside David Mudd who came in from Tennessee (director of photography for American Profile), to record the events of the day. The Union photographer, John Hart, was there shooting for our local newspaper. The community photo took place on Mill St. in Grass Valley near the Del Oro theater, surrounded by a hoopla of fitness activity, classic old cars, dancers, and even llamas. What fun! For the community photo all us photogs took turns climbing up a 12′ stepladder for various shots. Here are a a few photos of the day. I’ll have close to 300 pics for all to see online through my association with Pictage.com in about a week or so.
