Old Hwy 49 Bridge at Yuba River

Last Saturday,  a few hours before the sun was to set, I drove north on Hwy 49 to check out a distant view of the foothills that I had made a mental note some years ago might make a good photo.  I did find the location (see last photo below) but the sun was going to set much too far to the south for the shot I was hoping for.  Anyway, a nice sky, so I took the photo and composed for the sky.  This summer, when the sun is setting further to the north, I’ll come back for a beautiful sunset shot there.  Then I drove a bit further north to the old bridge that crosses the Yuba river and poked around for a few more shots that looked interesting in the late light.  The sun drops below the horizen in the Yuba River canyon about an hour before sunset happens elsewhere, so the timing was right for some nice pics. Beautiful blend of nature and structure!
