Wildflowers and Bridgeport Covered Bridge

The wildflowers are blazing, … in certain areas, anyway. On Hwy 20, just west of Penn Valley, they are all over the sides of the road. Sunday afternoon I took my 2 youngest daughters and my camera to check out the lupines, poppies, and others, and get a few photos in all their glory. Beautiful!

Afterwards we drove a little ways north to the S. Yuba River at Bridgeport to see if there were many wildflowers blooming there, too. Not so many wildflowers, but the historic covered bridge there is amazing and the exterior has been beautifully restored to its original state. Built in 1862, at 251 feet, it is the longest single span covered bridge in the United States. Originally it could hold over 13 tons but now rated at 3 ton capacity because of its age. It is open to pedestrian traffic. Here are a few shots we took there and on the river.

They have some of the old wagons on display in the old barn near the bridge.

Dora likes taking photos, too!

Love the clouds!
